  I am trying to box in a new bathroom ceiling fan w/ light using crown molding. The current fans have a sheet metal box 5 to 6 inches in depth. The original had a 4 inch depth. There is a PVC pipe preventing use of the deeper box of the new fan. So the new fan box protrudes from the ceiling by 2 inches. How does this affect Home Depot? 1) I found the crown molding profile I wanted easy enough. Here is the caveat. There are various lengths in the space on the rack since they sell it by the foot. Unless you measure it, you may not be sure of the length you grab. 2) I wanted a Crown Molding cutting jig. On line it said the store I went to had 4 in stock. Two Home Depot customer reps did not know what I was talking about. It turns out there was only 1 cutting jig and luckily we found it hanging on one of the bin supports in the crown molding aisle.
